New Vintage in the Air (31st January 2012)
New Vintage in the Air
Welcome to our first newsletter for the 2012 year. We have had a busy Cellar Door this summer, and it has been great to meet such awesome people. We hope to see you again in the future, or just keep in contact via email or check us out at our web page www.wrightswines.co.nz.
The grapes are swelling, the barrels are empty and the birds are eyeing up the grapes (time for those bird bangers!). Vintage is definitely in the air.
After a challenging start to the vintage, we have had some stunning weather in the last week to put a smile on any vintner.
Today, we started to roll out the nets. The Gewurztraminer crop in particular is looking clean and promises much. The Reserve Chardonnay 2011 is out of the barrels and is tasting stunning, with a lovely golden hue. This wine is due for release in the next few months. Just in time, as the 2010 Reserve Chardonnay is down to a few cases – be in quick. We are very excited about what’s to come in the upcoming months.
After 364 days in our Rent-A-Shack, Santa (with a little help from Geoff, with late night painting missions) came early and we moved into our Strawbale home on Christmas Eve. What a year! It is great to have a home again. The kids are loving it! Here is a recent photo of our home and family, which was featured in the Gisborne Herald Newspaper last weekend.
We have also decided it is time to share our love for all wines by introducing the Brown Paper Bag Blind Wine Tasting events. These will be held every two weeks on our vineyard. The inaugural event is 4-6pm, Sunday 12th February 2012. The plan is simple, bring a bottle of wine in a brown paper bag to share. No doubt some wise, crazy and completely irrelevant things will be discussed! For further information, check out our website www.wrightswines.co.nz under the tab – ‘Blind Wine Tastings’. It will be great to catch up with those that can make it.
The grapes are swelling, the barrels are empty and the birds are eyeing up the grapes (time for those bird bangers!). Vintage is definitely in the air. We also still have room in our wine club for those interested in receiving wines on a regular monthly/bi-monthly basis. Something for everyone with 3 bottle, 6 bottle and Case packages. For more information. Let us know, if you are interested in receiving more information about this opportunity.
Here’s cheers to a safe, happy, fun-filled 2012
Geoff, Nicola, Noah, Elijah & Luke
